Augmented Reality
Mobile augmented reality and computer vision for indoor navigation, accessibility, exergames and healthcare education.

Augmented reality overlays digital information on the physical world through the camera of an ordinary smartphone. We develop mobile AR applications that combine computer vision, edge computing and machine learning to guide, train and engage people where they are.
Our work includes the UNIPI AR Experience app for indoor localisation and navigation on the university campus, SLAM-based obstacle detection and hybrid cloud–edge platforms that improve accessibility, gamified crowd management, and AR exergames that assess physical and cognitive activity. In healthcare, we use AR for pharmacy education and for visualising dermatological images on mobile devices.
