Panagiotis Mavrogiannis is a PhD candidate in the Department of Digital Systems at the University of Piraeus. He graduated from the Department of Computer Science at the Technological Educational Institute of Athens in 2014. He has worked as a technical support engineer at the National Infrastructures for Research and Technology and at Sieben Ltd. In the same company, he later undertook the organization and automation of the procedures for the systematic control of the produced software of the company. As a team leader, by implementing a series of automated processes, aimed at software quality assurance, ensured the company was awarded ISO 9000 certification for many, consecutive years. In 2021 he graduated from the postgraduate program of the Department of Digital Systems of the University of Piraeus, in collaboration with NCSR "Demokritos", in Artificial Intelligence. The subject of his doctoral dissertation is "Sports Analytics using Computer Vision", a subject with which he also dealt in his postgraduate thesis. The purpose here is to extract simple or complex information by processing video sequences from football matches, through the identification and localization of athletes in the field and finally, research the possibility of applying same methodologies to other sports.
