Michael Galliakis is a PhD candidate in the Department of Digital Systems of the University of Piraeus, on the research topic "Affective Computing using Machine Learning Techniques". In 2016, he received his degree from the Department of Informatics Engineering of the Technological Educational Institute of Athens. He finished his postgraduate studies in 2018 and acquired a Master of Science in "Computing and Network Technologies" from the Department of Informatics and Computer Engineering at the newly founded University of Western Attica. His research interests are in the areas of Artificial Emotional Intelligence and Serious Games. Specifically, his scientific work focuses on the Emotion Detection through Digital Image Processing, Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning Techniques using Neural Networks. Since December 2018, he is a member of Computational Biomedicine Lab of the University of Piraeus.
